How does the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program work?
AR TESTING HOURS-7:30 am-3:45 pm or 3:15 pm on last day of Six Weeks
1. Students read books within their ZPD, or Zone of Proximal Development (reading range). ZPD is determined by students taking the STAR Reading Test - at the beginning of the school year, mid year and at the end of the school year. *NOTE* : Most books in De La Vina Elementary' s Library are AR Testing books!
2. Students take quizzes on books that are in their ZPD in order to earn points and meet their 6 - weeks AR goals.
3. In order to meet their 6 - week AR goal, students must:
-Maintain a 90% average on quizzes (No rounding up!)
-Earn all points as determined by ZPD.
-Maintain average book level by quizzing on books within their ZPD
4. Parents, through Renaissance HomeConnect , are able to receive instant feedback on the student's reading progress. *NOTE* : Username and password are the same as those the students uses to login at school.
