How does the Accelerated Reader (AR) Program work?

AR TESTING HOURS-7:30 am-3:45 pm or 3:15 pm on last day of Six Weeks

1.     Students read books within their ZPD, or Zone of Proximal Development (reading range). ZPD is determined by students taking the STAR Reading Test - at the beginning of the school year, mid year and at the end of the school year. *NOTE* : Most books in De La Vina Elementary' s Library are AR Testing books!

2.     Students take quizzes on books that are in their ZPD in order to earn points and meet their 6 - weeks AR goals.

3.     In order to meet their 6 - week AR goal, students must:

-Maintain a 90% average on quizzes (No rounding up!)

-Earn all points as determined by ZPD.

-Maintain average book level by quizzing on books within their ZPD

4.     Parents, through Renaissance HomeConnect , are able to receive instant feedback on the student's reading progress. *NOTE* : Username and password are the same as those the students uses to login at school.
